Hello world! The most important insurance question?

Keith Wainauski New Head Shot2 Color 7-12This is my first attempt to bring content about relevant insurance related information. My goal is to attempt to bring this information on a weekly basis. Please feel free to leave comments concerning the information we post on this blog. I want to thank those of you who have supported us over the past 6 years, and I hope that the use of this blog will enhance our ability to provide our clients and prospective clients with useful information concerning the exciting, ever changing world of insurance.

What is unknown by most is that insurance is much more than a commodity that you can by off the shelf – like a loaf of bread, or a can of soup. Though you can find hundreds of insurance companies offering a multitude of products, the most important thing everyone should consider when searching for insurance is having a trusted professional (agent) that you can work with that will insure that your insurance needs are met. In today’s economy there are so many people that are attempting to save every penny because they don’t know where there next one will come from. Price is an important element when obtaining insurance, simply because we all have to live within a budget, but is should NOT be the most important element when obtaining or retaining insurance. Mainly because the “price” or “premium” we pay for insurance will always change – this has been true ever since insurance was 1st written. Over a 10 year span if we were able to tack the premiums for 100 of the top insurance companies, you will find that the average premium charged over that time will be within dollars of each other over that time period. So as my mom used to teach me as I was growing up “work on those things that you can control” – rates are one thing that none of us can control, but developing a relationship with a trusted insurance professional is something we can control. And for those people that have locked into this secret and found themselves a good agent, they will be richly rewarded, not only with a great relationship, but also peace of mind knowing that they have the proper coverages, and over the long run net savings as the agent is able to maximize your coverages for your insurance dollars.

So my call to action is if you haven’t spoken to your insurance professional in the past year, please contact them and request a policy review. Depending on the amount of insurance you have this review should take approximately 45 minutes ( for a average family of 4). If you don’t have a agent, or you can’t reach your current agent, please give me a call and we can do a FREE no obligation review of your coverages for you.

Thanks for your time, and I look forward to bringing you some more information next week.

We’re thinking of buying a very expensive camera. Will this be covered by our home insurance policy or do we need to add a policy?

  • keithski

Yes – the camera will be covered by your homeowners policy. You may want to save receipts to document the value of the camera.

Hey Keith! Great first article. Keep up the good work. Thought you might want to know there are a couple typos I noticed…one in the sub heading, were instead of where and by off the shelf instead of buy off the shelf. Sorry blame my mother with the red pen. I look forward to reading more about insurance.
